미군이 지뢰를 밟고 다리를 잃었다면 어느정도까지 보상을 해 주는 것일까?

일단 한국에 비해 여러나라에 파병도 보내고 

전투도 비일비재한게 미국이라 부상, 장애의 정도에 따른 보상 시스템이 

굉장히 체계적으로 자리 잡혀 있다. 

팔다리의 절단뿐만이 아니라 장기손상, 정신질환, 트라우마, 심장마비, 뇌졸증 등 

굉장히 많은 종류의 질병에 대해서 그 정도와 심각성에 따라 보상금을 

차등지급하는데 여기서는 일단 신체 일부의 절단에 대한 보상 체계를 알아 본다.

일단 미군에서 사용하는 장애등급은 0% 

(0프로라고 건강한 군인을 뜻하는건 아니고 부상의 시작점을 알리는 정도의 개념) 부터 

100%의 스케일로 이루어져있고

그 장애등급과 군인의 자녀, 배우자, 부모의 유무로 나누어서 보상금을 차등지급하고 있다.

먼저 신체 절단에 따른 장애등급을 알아보자면,

The Legs and Feet

 

Code 5160: If the entire leg is amputated at the hip joint, it is rated 90%.

Code 5161: If it is amputated in the upper part of the thigh, then it is rated 80%.

Code 5162: If it is amputated at mid to lower thigh, then it is rated 60%.

Code 5163: If the leg has been amputated but the stump is bad and a second amputation at thigh level is recommended, then it is rated 60%. (This one is a bit odd and is only rarely used.)

Code 5164: If the amputation is at a place around the knee where the knee cannot be used at all, then it is rated 60%.

Code 5165: If the amputation is below the knee, and the knee can still move, then it is rated 40%.

Code 5167: If the leg is amputated at the ankle or in a place so that the foot cannot be used at all, then it is rated 40%.

Code 5107: If both feet have been amputated, it is rated 100%.

Code 5166: If the ball of the foot and toes are amputated, then the rating is 40%.

Code 5170: If all the toes are amputated, not including the ball of the foot, it is rated 30%.

Code 5171: If just the big toe is amputated from the ball of the foot, then it is rated 30%. If the big toe is amputated at a point beyond the ball of the foot, then it is rated 10%.

Code 5172: If one or two toes (not the big toe) are amputated from the ball of the foot, then it is rated 20%. If one or two are amputated at a point beyond the ball of the foot, then it is rated 0%.

Code 5173: If two, three, or four toes (not the big toe) are amputated at a point beyond the ball of the foot, then it is rated 10%. If the big toe is one of the toes amputated, then it increases to 20%.

만약 지뢰에 다리가 절단 되었다면 

CODE 5165, 즉 무릎 아래로 절단이 되었고 무릎 자체는 움직일수있는 상태이다.

즉 장애등급은 40%로 볼 수 있다.

여기서 부모님이 두 분 다 생존해있는 상태라면 한달에 693.12 달러, 

즉 지금환율로 80만원돈을 받는걸 알 수 있다.

근데 미군은 여기서 기타 질병이 아니라 사지에 

직접적인 절단이 있을때 special monthly compensation이라는 

특별 보상금을 따로 지급하는데,

하나의 다리, 팔, 혹은 눈을 잃었을땐 101.50 달러를 따로 지급한다고 한다.

두 금액을 합치면 794.62 달러, 원화로는 91만 8000원이다.

일정 시간이 지나면 나을 수 있는 다른 병들과 달리 사지 절단은 

평생동안 안고가는것이기때문에 죽기 전까진 평생동안 

한달에 100만원정도 되는돈을 받는거라고 볼 수 있다.

그리고 정신적 질병과 트라우마까지 중첩으로 적용이 된다면

40%의 등급과 합칠수있기때문에 등급이 훨씬 높아질수도 있다.
